Future EU District home topped off Washington Business Journal - by Tierney Plumb Staff Reporter February 25, 2009 The future home of the European Union was topped off at 2175 K St. NW near Washington Circle.
Appian Realty Advisors is serving as construction managers for the $25 million project. Now that the shell is complete, work now shifts to the exterior curtain wall, the interior build out and renovations list.
The expansion will add three floors and 34,594 square feet to the previous eight-story building for a total of 174,454 square feet and 11 floors, along with below grade parking levels.
Late last month the Washington Business Journal reported that the European Union’s Washington delegation signed a 15-year lease on almost 51,000 square feet in the to-be-constructed space.
The delegation, which lobbies Washington for the legislative arm of the 27-member EU, wanted to modify the building for security purposes.
It will relocate from 2300 M St. NW upon completion of the project during the first quarter of 2010.
Renovations will be performed on the exterior curtain wall, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire alarm systems, elevators and elevator lobbies and main entrance lobby and restrooms. Washington Business Journal |
